Pirelli Motorcycle tyre with code name: Night Dragon

Tyre info

Night Dragon represents the contact between performance and style, between the world of speed and the custom world, between the passion that always has characterized Pirelli values and products, and the passion of the V-Twin world.

Daytona Bike Week is the ideal world, where in a week of adrenaline and chromatins all the different bike worlds meet for a definitely unique event where racing joins custom, where the sporty bikes join Harley Davidsons. For this reason Daytona, with something like 600.000 bikes, represents the right place for Pirelli to present its new NIGHT DRAGON, a mix of tradition, passion, emotion and performance. The first performance product dedicated to the V-Twins: it’s where performance meets the street.

Pirelli philosophy is clear: tyres must offer always reference performances, tyres must offer to the biker exactly what he wants to in order to enjoy to the full of its bike and its riding style whatever they are.
Power is nothing without control.

Constructed to fit both Harley-Davidson® and metric cruiser riders, NIGHT DRAGON meets the increased engine sizes, torque / horsepower needs and upgraded suspensions of today’s V-twins.

In order to join all the different motorcycle worlds and to answer the different needs that characterize V-Twin NIGHT DRAGON is crafted for predictable feel and feedback, mixed with a compound for high mileage and extreme grip at full lean and full throttle.

Initial sizes will be replacement fitment for Harley-Davidson® Road King, Road Glide, Street Glide, Electra Glide and Sportster models. Additional Harley-Davidson® model fitments and metric v-twins will follow.

When performance is as important as passion, the Pirelli Night Dragon conquers the road like no other tyre.

Compromising new Bridgestone Tires. For both street and racing

Bridgestone Battlax BT-003RS racing/street tyre designed to provide outstanding street and track day performance for all sporty motorcycles from 250cc on.

Compared to the BT-002RS it will replace, the new BT-003RS provides total handling improvement in all riding modes – with better contact feel, feedback, stability and grip – and longer wear life.

MotoGP compound technology

Bridgestone has combined its top MotoGP construction technology with its latest multi-compound technology from SACT (Straight And Cornering Technology) to produce a sport tyre that gives high-level grip performance in braking, cornering and acceleration.

The BT-003RS front tyre has a new 3-Layer Compound (3LC): a centre compound for linear handling and longer wear life, flanked by a shoulder compound to secure high grip and a strong contact feeling.

The rear BT-003RS tyre features Bridgestone’s new 5-Layer Compound (5LC) technology, used for the BT-016 advanced hypersport tyre launched this year. The centre compound gives good stability and higher mileage; the shoulder compound transfers the engine power to the road with strong traction; while the edge compound provides strong side grip and a massive contact feeling at deep lean angles. The line holding feels almost like riding on a rail.

Front and rear construction is based on Bridgestone’s proven HTSPC platform (High Tensile Super Penetrated Cord) with steel MSB (Mono Spiral Belt). This one-piece construction enhances slide controllability and line-holding through corners, while providing good shock absorption. The increased compression stiffness it produces helps to maintain a uniform contact patch and stability at high speeds.

Noticeable S-shaped grooves in the centre tread area (for both front and rear) provide outstanding contact feel and precise cornering ability. Also, wide lug grooves placed from the centre to the shoulder tread area enhance drainage and wet performance for practical road use.

Battlax BT-003RS are available in 3 front-wheel sizes and 6 rear-wheel sizes from 2009.

New rubber from Metzeler

New tyre from Metzeler

Metzler’s new Racetec Interact tyre feratures a new construction technology and a new compound mixing process which, claims Metzeler, means “a new equilibrium” in the overall tyre design. The compounds, the tread, carcass and materials all interact to produce a clever new tyre designed with sportsbikes in mind.

Press release

“The Tyre is a complex of different structure materials - the steel wire in the carcass and textile - as well as the tread compound. In addition to this, Metzeler technicians have developed an innovative mixing process to ensure highly homogeneous compound distribution, perfectly operating among internal elements (balanced distribution throughout the compound from centre to tyre edge) and external factors (Tarmac, temperatures, and riding styles).
Full interaction between carcass, steel belt and tread compound, as a new complex equilibrium, guarantees better performances in terms of total wet behavior, grip, safe riding and stability.”

The tyre comes in four compounds – three for varying track conditions – as well as one designed specifically for road riding. The tyre should be available from February 2009.
